BluePrint Automation (BPA) sought to enhance its cafeteria with a mural reflecting automation and Colorado imagery.
Approach & Process
To capture the company’s vision, I consulted with employees and leadership and reviewed a photo of BluePrint’s office mural in Holland for inspiration. I also took reference photos of their machinery to inform my designs. Based on this input, I developed three design concepts, progressing from thumbnails to high-fidelity sketches in my sketchbook using colored pencils.
Design two, featuring the Colorado flag, was selected. I was hired on an hourly basis with a two-week timeline to complete the mural.
Execution & Outcome
The painting process began with cleaning and priming the wall. I sketched the design using a combination of projector projection and freehand drawing. The painting progressed smoothly, and on July 29, 2018, I completed the 9' x 31' mural single-handedly. On my final day, I ensured the space was thoroughly cleaned, checking for paint splatter on walls and floors to leave the area in pristine condition.
